LEADership Academy |
|
This program aims to
help school leaders increase their knowledge and skills to lead
improvement efforts in their school or school district. Included are a
rich variety of organizational and personal growth topics designed to
support school leaders in their efforts to increase student achievement
and academic results.
|
|
- |
Growing the
Administrative Team:
Does leadership really impact student achievement? A growing body
of research confirms that it does. The knowledge, skills and
abilities of the district’s administrators all have a direct
impact on student performance. This module explores current “best
practices” for increasing administrative team effectiveness
through supervising, coaching, and focused professional growth.

Supervising
Support Staff:
Is your support staff as effective as it can be? Are support
staff members being supervised and evaluated correctly? Do
support staff members feel valued? This module addresses all
these questions including: 1) Developing a goals-driven model for
supervision and evaluation, 2) Successful supervisory and
evaluation techniques, 3) Providing quality feedback, 4)
Increasing holding power, and 5) Preserving positive community
ties.
|
|
- |
Policies:
Do your policies reflect the best supervisory and evaluative
practices? Are there opportunities for certified staff to grow
and take leadership roles? This module addresses all these
questions and examines model staff supervision and evaluation
polices that build accountability and responsibility and promote
professional growth.

Instructional
Leadership:
One of the most critical tasks of any school leader is to ensure
that high quality instruction is taking place in every classroom
every day. This module includes the major principles from “The
Instructional Leadership Academy” and “The Brain and Learning,”
which are two highly successful training programs designed to
develop reflective, effective classroom teachers. Participants
will learn (or review) the principles of supervising, coaching,
and evaluating professional staff along with how to coach for
growth. Other segments include how to write and implement formal
teacher improvement plans and guidelines for non-renewal and
dismissal that are legally fit and ethically sound.

Taking Care of
You:
School leaders
are best able to serve others when they are at their best,
personally. They almost constantly experience stress and tension
from conflicting demands, deadlines, and other pressures
associated with the job. This module focuses on strategies to
deal positively and effectively with the realities of the
position. There are no fads or foolishness in this experience;
only the best of what works to help school leaders improve
psychological, emotional, and physical wellness.
